“Professor Baudin,” I drawled slowly. “Could I have a minute of your time?”

His head jerked up from where it was skimming papers on his desk. Our class had just finished but I needed to see him; he’d been distracted while he taught—and not in the good way I would’ve expected after this morning.

In fact, it had almost become our thing—the wake-up sex on mornings when we had class—that I thought I’d stop in here and remedy the fact that this morning we’d missed out. But the man in class wasn’t the same man who’d kissed me goodbye this morning or texted me to wake me up, and I was worried.

I drank in the sight of him, a god of disorganization ruling over his messy domain.

God, he was so handsome—my still-slightly-disheveled professor with just enough disarray on his desk to torment me and make me all itchy and fidgety. He slowly looked up my body, like he hadn’t seen me dress this morning or in his class. There was something though—something that glimmered differently in his gaze. Something bleaker, yet equally as hungry.

My hands behind my back, I locked the door after it closed. The distracted look I’d glimpsed on his face vanished when he saw me.

“You can have every minute of my life,” he replied, emotion made his voice hoarse.

I hummed and bit into my lip to try to stop the smile from cracking my whole-hearted attempt to be serious.

It didn’t work.

I wandered over to his desk, dropping my bag along the way, and sighing as he turned and pulled me between his legs, kissing my stomach before looking up at me.

“Two things.” I licked my lips. “One, Bridgette wants me to go to dinner with her and her parents tonight. I told her I would since I missed her birthday party on Friday.”

I’d felt terrible for telling my friend I wouldn’t be able to come over and celebrate with her and our friends on Friday, but as much as I loved her, I loved Léo more. And his plans had been made first.

Of course, Bridgette understood. I also sensed a bit of relief, knowing she wouldn’t be competing with me for Étienne’s attention even though he knew there was absolutely no chance for us now.

He grunted.

“I know,” I whispered. “I’ll be home later though and I’ll make it up to you.”

“Okay.” His jaw ticked as he bent forward and gently nipped on my breast. “And what’s the second?”

Running my fingers through his hair, I held his head firm as I locked into his gaze. “What’s wrong?”

I caught the momentary shock that flicked over his chiseled features.

“What do you mean?”

“You looked like something was wrong in class… You still look like something is wrong.”

His thumbs rubbed up and down my sides. “Nothing is wrong, ma petite.”

“Léo… please…” I begged. “Please don’t hide from me.”

The light flickered over the hard and unmoving lines of his face before they softened with a loud sigh. “I’m afraid,” he rasped quietly.

“Afraid of what?”

“Two weeks, Troy.
